Strategy Workshop

Sometimes it's hard to know where to begin. We can not only point you in the right direction, but we can help plan the journey.

Our software design and development process recognizes two competing interests: 1) the need for clear overall project objectives, and 2) the reality that understanding develops as the software is created. During our strategy workshop we assist clients to determine specific objectives from a set of needs about and desires for how their idea is implemented.

Our experience creating software grounds our process. We know that often what we initially think about how a component of the software should be constructed turns out to be incomplete or inaccurate. We know that effective software depends upon understanding the goals and motivations of the users. We know that planning requires forecasting, and that forecasting gets more inaccurate the further out it extends.

To balance these two main, competing interests, we employ an iterative approach to design and development. Although the majority of the design and development work follows a circular path through a number of iterations, the overall process has a distinct progression that can be roughly divided into beginning, middle, and end. The strategy session marks the beginning of a project and is focused on clarifying the objectives. The intent is to define how the software will be used, what challenges it will address, the context in which it will be used, and what business or organizational objectives it will fulfill. We intentionally do not focus on how the software will be constructed.

However you plan to execute your idea, our Strategy Session can help you kick off your next project.
